Adding a Homey Touch!

Hubby’s been gone since last Monday on his new job. It’s been a VERY long week. The kids miss Daddy and I miss my husband. Hopefully, hubby will be home by tomorrow night or Wednesday morning at the latest. (Cross your fingers and say a prayer please!)

Stocking a truck with the basics is the smart way to start hubby on the his trucker career but don’t forget to add a few homey touches. Things to make your man feel connected to the family he’s so many miles away from. Pictures, keepsakes, trinkets, and the like are excellent ideas but I want to add something a little different.

I thought perhaps a small plant might be nice. It would need to be something low maintenance and tolerate drought and heat well. This succulent plant from 1-800-Flowers would be perfect. It’s small in size and would require very little water plus it comes already in a decorative planter!  Every time hubby looked at it, he would think of us.

Added trucker bonus: the plant would help minimize any odors that may accumulate during a trip. Tack a little hook and loop tape to the bottom of the planter to ensure it’s secure for travel and WHALA…a multi-purpose gift reminding hubby of the people at home who love him and miss him!

With hubby in a different place every day, flower delivery would be an impossible way to surprise him at work. However, having it delivered to the house waiting with a beautiful bow might be the ticket.
