Sour Gummy Recipe

Sour Gummy Recipe

  • 1 box Jello (Any flavor or brand)
  • 1 package Gelatin unflavored
  • 1 package Unsweetened Koolaid (or similar brand) in complimentary flavor
  • 1 cup water
  • Candy Mold - optional

Mix dry ingredients in a shallow bowl. Heat water on medium high to just boiling. Mix in dry ingredients constantly stirring till powder is completely dissolved (usually a couple of minutes). Pour in desired mold and allow to set. Store in airtight container in refrigerator for a couple weeks or a few days on the counter.

Jenn's Notes:
  1. Spray candy mold with cooking spray for easier removal.
  2. Instead of a candy mold, use a large plate or casserole dish and pizza cutter to cut into strips for gummy worms.
  3. Place 1/2 inch of cornstarch in a large casserole dish to create your own candy mold shapes. Use a gummy bear with toothpick in it's back to make the bear shape.
  4. Refrigerate for quicker setting gummies.
  5. Substitute fruit juice for the water to get a healthier version.
  6. Omit the Koolaid for a plain fruit flavored gummy.
  7. Think of the colors when mixing the Jello and Koolaid. Use clear Koolaid versions if you don't want to alter the color of the final product.
  8. Layer colors by making one batch, allowing to completely set in freezer or refrigerator then pouring another fresh batch on top.
