Foto Friday #9

It's finally Friday so here's another installment of Foto Friday!

Foto Friday...Sort Of

I normally post a picture of something I find interesting, funny, heart warming, or about the people I love but today was unique. Today was the day hurt hubby went to the Orthopedic surgeon to determine the next course of treatment: surgery or more therapy.

For those of you who aren't familiar, hubby got hurt on the job the day after Christmas. It was his lower back. A sick cow went down so he and the manager were trying to help her up to move her to a sick area. She went one way and he went the other when something in his lower back went wickedly wrong! Ever since then, it's been constant pain and misery. He's been on Temporary Total Disability since he can barely walk much less work. MRI revealed bulging discs (plural meaining more than one-yikes!) and the disc is pinching nerves causing frequent numbness in his left leg, constant "white hot" pain in his lower back, headaches, even occassional numbness in his left arm and fingers. He sees the Chiropractor at least three times a week for a variety of therapies. So far his treatment has included:

1. Computerized adjustments to avoid any further damage a manual adjustment may cause
   
2. Graston Therapy which is a similar to deep tissue massage only deeper with using specialized metal bars. It's VERY painful and leaves bruises.
   
3. Spinal Traction
4. Home TENS unit-neat little gadget with four leads that causes your muscles to spasm with low voltage electricity to increase strength.
5. Home Head Traction which a funny looking when you're all hooked up. See this post for a visual!
6. Heat/cold pack therapy
7. Pain medication which makes him drowsy and does NOT relieve any pain so he doesn't take it.

Hubby's had Xrays and MRI's. Now three months later, we're off to see the Orthopedic surgeon. The good news is he's not suggesting surgery...YET! We're on to the next phase which will include out-patient physical therapy three times a week, nerve block shots, ultra sounds and different pain meds for the next three weeks. This is IN ADDITION to the three weekly visit to the Chiropractor. When the three weeks is up, we'll go back to see what the next step is...more physical therapy, different drugs, more gizmos, surgery???? Who knows but at least surgery's not on the table at the moment. The combination of nerve block shots and pain meds seem to be working, at least for now since hubs is sleeping more soundly than I've seen in quite a while. Cross your fingers, toes, and anything else you can for a positive outcome! Until then, I'll leave you with this photo (i couldn't get that image to work from the MRI disc-program issue???)

Foto Friday #6

My apologies for skipping last week's Foto Friday and being late with the post this week. I've picked up a part time job working a few hours Wednesday's, Thursday's, and Friday's to help out with the bills till hurt hubs is better and back to work. Last week was a madhouse around here between working Friday morning and getting ready for birthday boy's party on Saturday.


This is head traction done at home and what hurt hubs is suppose to do everyday! On the door in the background is lipstick Wild Man decided to use to draw on his bedroom door earlier that day! I keep all my makeup in our bedroom. Needless to say, we have to lock our bedroom door now to keep him out of all the "fun" stuff he can get into!

I miss my baby girl! (She's on the right.) Hopefully Kayla will come home soon! No one can know how a mother's heart aches when she's separated from any of her children. I take comfort in knowing the Lord will make all things right according to His will! I may not understand His plan but He is the Grand Designer and all things will work out! I take comfort in this!

Who lives in a pineapple under the Sea?

Today's photo that dates back to last September when our mighty monster turned two! He loves all things Spongebob so I made this all by myself just for his big day!

I used a boxed cake mix. Sketched out my image to scale. Then made the fondant icing using Peggy's Baking Corner recipes and tips. There's plenty of cake decorating ideas and tips at Peggy's main page.

Welcome to Foto Friday! Today, I thought I share photos my youngest son's room! I nearly cried when I first saw it, but looking back I'm laughing! Life's too short to sweat the small stuff!

The terrible two's are even more terrible every now and again! See what happens when the house gets a little too quiet!

Foto Friday

Welcome to my first Foto Friday! I've wanted to do a theme day for several weeks but, my power cord issue caused a snafu in my plans but finally I can get it started! In the spirit of simplicity, I'll post a photo or slide show of some interesting photos every Friday. The photos can be anything interesting from my fabulous family, creative crafts or luscious landscapes. It's another way for me to showcase things I find striking or inspirational.
