Fella’s this one’s for you! You might want to pass this around to ALL. YOUR. FRIENDS. December 26th, they will thank you for it!
Ladies in the house - pass this one to ALL the men in your life (husbands, boyfriends, wanna-be boyfriends, fathers, uncles, g-paws, etc) for one rockin’ gift this year!
Guys, if you think you can run to the store on Christmas Eve and pick out some prepackage gift, slap a bow and think it will blow us away…FORGET ABOUT IT! Women want a gift her man has put some thought and effort into selecting, wrapping, and presenting.
We want to feel celebrated and appreciated. Shopping for a woman can be a brutal task, but it doesn’t have to be. A few simple tips and tricks will help any guy master the art of shopping for a woman.
Be observant! Look at her interests and the things she enjoys doing.
- Does she like to draw, sew, cook, or garden?
- Is she big on fashion?
- Does she like DIY projects?
- Is she a self proclaimed music or movie buff?
- Is she a tech gal?
- Does she love sports and high adventure?
- Does she collect specific types of items (roosters, pigs, angels, etc)?
Knowing what she’s good will be helpful in pointing you in a general direction in the shopping mall. Once you have an idea then you can narrow things based on your budget.
Don’t buy for you…buy for HER!
On Christmas and birthdays women usually don’t want gifts that benefit you, the kids, or are useful for the home. We want to sparkle shine and feel celebrated on holidays like Christmas so save the sexy negligée for Valentine’s Day and the vacuum cleaners for the “because you need it” day.
Exception: 1 - It’s a luxury gift like the iRobot Vacuuming Robot or the Dyson
which are both very expensive but fall into that “useful for the home” category…OR…2 – She’s specifically asked for that new crock pot or stand mixer.
What does she buy for herself? Is it a specific color or style? Does it offer a specific use or function?
You don’t have to buy the exact same things BUT AGAIN, this gives you an idea of the type of items she likes and keeps you pointed in the right direction. If you find “the perfect gift” but don’t know what color to buy, think back to the color of clothing she buys the most for herself. Her buying patterns can act as a road map for your holiday shopping.
Does she “ooooo” and “aaaaa” over an item she sees repeatedly in a store window or commercial?
This is a big hint fellas! BIG. HINT! Whether she does it intentionally or not, anytime a woman “oooo”ing and “aaaa”ing over THE SAME THING, it’s good idea to see if you can fit it in the budget. I’m just sayin!
Ditch the prepackage gift baskets with tons of tissue paper and cellophane!
I know. I know. I’m killing you right? The prepackaged gift is easy but the easy route won’t BLOW HER MIND on Christmas morning. If you do get a prepackaged gift basket, take it out of the packaging and upgrade the gift wrapping. Buy a felt stocking or a fabric covered box or something OTHER THAN WHAT IT WAS PACKAGED IN and present it to her. Presentation can make all the difference in getting an average reaction as opposed to a HOLY MOLY reaction.
The #1 Guaranteed Tip to getting your woman her dream gift…
…is by simply asking her what she wants. Keep in mind you don’t have to buy exactly what she asks for. It’s all about getting an idea of what she wants. What better way than to get it straight from the horses mouth?
If you have trouble getting your lady to confess her dream gift, try a more covert option: Try the “What If” game.
- What if we won the lottery, what’s the first thing you would buy?
- What if you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
- What if you could eat at any restaurant, where would it be?
- If you had a day to do whatever you wanted, what would you do?
This should help to draw some answers to help you figure out what type of gift to buy.
These tips should help any man navigate the fuzzy and confusing world of shopping for a woman…any woman for any gift giving reason!
