J-Man completed and passed level 1 swim class. He actively and willingly participated in class every day. The kids played Red Light/Green Light, Follow the Leader, and Grab the Rings. Splashing, kick boards, and lots of laughter were all parts of the class. Towards the end, the kids were jumping into the water (even the deep end). Although he didn't jump in Cannon Ball style, and certainly stayed very far from the deep end, he was at least hopping into the shallow end getting his face and hair wet. This is a HUGE success for him! This has put a real dent into his fear of water.
Rick's recovery from microdiscectopic surgery is progressing as hoped. Doctors are predicting a complete recovery with a full release to work status around November (maybe sooner). The pain he's feeling now is simply due to the scar tissue forming from the surgery. Intense physical therapy should help remove the scar tissue eliminating the pain. We're relieved to hear the prognosis, but as the saying goes..."the fat lady has not sang"-yet. Since his pain is still higher than many post surgical patients, we're cautiously optimistic! The good doctor did state his higher than usual level of post surgical pain is most likely due to the zero percent body fat around the surgical area. It seems his fitness level became the subject of great conversation during the surgery. Most notably was his extremely low body fat percentage. Hopefully this will make his recovery easier and faster!
So what's everyone else been up to lately????
